6 Websites to Make Digital Learning Easier for Everyone


Digital Learning Day is just around the corner and yes, it's a real holiday.  This holiday was created encourage kids, adults and seniors to take advantage of technology to strengthen our learning experiences and to give us all a better quality of life. The internet has an almost unlimited amount of web sites and resources to help you and your family learn anything. What's great about our digital society is education is just a click away and available on all of our tech devices.  What's even better, most of these resources are free. It doesn't matter if you want to learn a new language, play an instrument, help the senior in your life learn a new skill, or you want your kids to brush up on their education, there is a digital resource for that.  Want to find educational resources for you and your entire family?  Check out these resources.

For Kids: If you're a parent, I hate to break it to you, but just because your kid is good at Fortnite doesn't mean they are a technology genius. Letting your kids play games is a great way to improve hand eye coordination, but not so good for improving practical life skills which will help them succeed in life. Here are some great educational websites: 

Funbrain www.funbrain.com  This website was created for kids Pre-K through 8th grade.They offer hundreds of games, books, comics, and videos that develop math, reading, problem-solving and literacy skillls. 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' was first published on this site.  The bonus is parents don't have to worry about online interaction with other kids like many of the games that are popular on the web. 

Highlights for Kids. www.highlightskids.com  Highlights magazine has been around for over years 60 years! It was one of my favorite magazines growing up and now kids can enjoy all that the magazine offers online.There are all  Matching games, art activities, animated stories and science experiments are just a few ways kids can learn while having fun on the website.d

For Adults: There is no excuse for you not to master a new skill, expand your knowledge, or boost your career. The great thing about digital learning is you can learn at your own pace and in the comfort of your own home. How much easier it can possibly be?

Kahn Academy. www.kahnacademy.org.  The Kahn Academy promises free education for everyone.  This web site and app offers hundreds of online courses for ages 5-100 on a variety of subjects. Created by Salman Kahn back in 2008, it is the go to site for parents, students and even teachers. 

GCF Learn Free https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/ GCFLearnFree is just what it says.  It's a free online educational website that has a focus on technology, job training, math, and reading skills. This site is great for anyone looking to brush up on technology skills ranging from learning different versions of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, or wants to get more out of social media or smart device usage such as using a smartphone or tablet.

For Seniors: You know, growing older doesn’t mean that you should stop your desire to learn new skills. Truth be told, this is the best time to explore your hidden talents which can help you continue to live a rich, fulfilling life and have some fun along the way.

Tech Boomers: https://techboomers.com/ Tech Boomers is a free educational website that teaches older adults with limited computer skills how to use the most popular devices and websites. This is the go to web site for seniors wanting to improve their technology skills.

AARP:  www.aarp.org. AARP's mission is to empower people on how they live as they age.  Their website has a wealth of information to help people with aging and maintaining a good quality of life by sharing useful information in all areas of life.
