5 Awesome Apps You Need for Your Next Road Trip

Summertime means that its road trip season. Road trips are a lot of fun because it gives you the opportunity to hop in your car, turn up the music, set the cruise control and head to a new destination. I like to head to random destinations for road trips, but for those of you who like to plan your trip, it can be a bit stressful. Thankfully, technology can make planning your road trips a breeze which means you will stress less and focus on more of the fun aspects of your trip. Need help organizing your next road trip? Check out these apps which are the perfect traveling buddy ... next to your spouse, better half, and family of course.

1. Spotify/Pandora. You can't have a road trip without music and Spotify and Pandora are great music streaming apps that cost you nothing. If you upgrade to a premium account you can create your own custom playlists. If that is too much of a bother for you, both services have their own playlist that you can enjoy as you are cruising to your destination.

2. Roadtrippers. Your smartphone and your car already have a map built in, but Roadtrippers is a good alternative to have because it will help you find everything that is on the path to your main destination. It will help you find local diners, roadside attractions and all those other hidden gems that can add more excitement to your trip.

3. GasBuddy. Want to get the best prices on gas on your road trip, don't head out until you get GasBuddy. This app uses your GPS coordinates to help you find the best prices on gas. Gas prices differ from area to area and GasBuddy will help you stay within your fuel budget.

4. TripIt. Traveling can be a hassle when it comes to organizing all of your travel plans. Get TripIt and this app will organize all your travel plans in one place. When you get email confirmations for reservations, it transforms your upcoming travels into a master itinerary.

5. HotelTonight App.  When you're taking a road trip, one of the last things you want to do is search multiple websites to find a room. HotelTonight is designed for people who need to book rooms at the last minute. Part of the fun with a road trip is to be spontaneous. Never worry about finding a place to crash and get rooms at a heavily discounted rate.

No matter where you're headed this summer and beyond, take a moment to download these helpful apps. All of them are easy to use and will allow you to focus on the fun aspect of your trip and leave the frustrations of travel behind.
